Hey B O G! How about some rules to deter GMs for blowing the seasons to get these top picks? When we are trying to improve our teams and still compete? Lets show some integrity.

although I've been "blowing my season" for 2 months I have recived 8 prospects ,2 first round draftpicks players like Richards, backstrom ,pominville ,Boyes, weiss and the list goes on and even though In tried to dump my team to get better draft position(my plan) I'm still consitanly out scoring some G.M who have dumped great players(not knowing their worth) and recived the proverbal bag of pucks back in return. and as far as intergerity is concerned dumping players with out at least an idea of the direction your going is a lack of intergity!! good rule of thumb no plan= no trade!!
this is just one BOG members response to the above statement.

If you are actively trying to blow the season I see that as a positive for the pool otherwise the only guys who will take interest in the pool are the pool leaders and that is not good for the pool. Whether you are trying to win the pool or the draft lottery you are still actively involved making constant roster adjustments trying to win the pick and readily available to make trades and participate in discussions. The biggest reason I believe the NHL cant allow a similar strategy is because if one team is trying to blow a season the team they are directly playing against may obtain points they otherwise would not have gotten, thereby unfairly allowing an undeserving team into a playoff position. I fully intend on actively tanking my team for better draft position should the oppurtunity arise and it looks like I have no chance at third.

I concur with Cam's reasoning and his opinion. A strategy to improve your team can be done in a variety of ways and tanking the season is certainly one of them.

I agree with ken, this is supposed to be a fantasy league you don't see an NHL team blowing a season on purpose, or else the oilers would have last year vs calgary which would have put us in the nhl draft lottery, and when Ottawa did it they was a punishment was there not?. I suggest the BOG should look into this (with certain BOG members exempt, because they are the main ones involved in this situation) , because a team should not be allowed to place the top guys on there roster into there farm system, i suggest a rule change something along the lines of this to get the ball rolling....
1)A team shall have to keep there top 5-8(forwards) and 2-3 (D) points/game getters in their roster
2)A GM shall have to assign 1 way and 2 way contracts to their player upon acquiring them and must have 5-8 Forwards and 2-3 D-Men assigned as a 1 way player and can only have them in their farm system if they get injured and can keep them there untill the GM feels so
3)I also think that the percent of man games per year should be increased from %80. Because you dont see an NHL team going into a game with not enough guys in there system (like some GM's have done this year)
those are just ideas to get the ball rolling (GO OILERS GO)

I like Randy's idea I think if healthy a team should have to have their top 8 forwards in and their top three defense men in

Hey if teams want to blow the season let them. The one thing that I think is bullshit is the bringing up of players who are hurt and the bringing up of players who are not even in the league. That has to come to a stop. If a guy wants to put in Labarbera for Kiprusoff (if he is healthy) then that is his own business.

Draft picks are for a team who is not able to compete against others to help them improve there team (to keep it fair), if a guy has a team who is able to compete but realises he can not win that year and goes and blows the year meanwhile stealing a guys draft pick, meaning a good team will improve and say a guy like me or ken will get a worser draft pick whil a guy like george or keith have the better team (just saying). Its not fair, a draft pick should be givin to the worser team hence why the last place team gets first draft pick, lets keep the pool competable for all, just cause you think you wont win this year does not mean you can go and blow the year, like cam said he now realizes he can't win and he wants to blow the year, that may be a smart move but why not if everyone else is, that is not smart managing, you should always fight for as much points as you can no matter what!!?!?!?!?!

But the one problem we get is GMs going against the rules and not dressing a full team. I don't care if the player sucks or not....all I care about is that the teams roster is full, and that no one is injured or in the minors. This is not the big deal everyone is making this out to be. We already have a rule in place that says ALL teams must have 20 players on their roster. We just need to define what players must be on the roster, set punishments, set exceptions and new rules for calling players up.

What some GM's are doing is not right, especially if these GM's are on the BOG if you are on the BOG or even in this draft at all should you not know the rules? who cares if there is no punishment, you should not be going against the rules, everyone should know the rules and try to play this fantasy league as if it were a real team, a real team would not have a top 3 guy in the NHL in their farm system or dress an injured player in a game or to not even dress enough players for a game.

We all got in this to win the cup? And if we are all to put the best team on the ice that we can then why dont we all run our teams like a real hockey team? Put the best teams we can on the for our home town fans. Not our farm team fans. Lets say a healthy Malkin in the farm? or lets say a minor league goalie that wont get you any points for you anyways??? Is Peter Forsberg playing in the NHL again?

I want people to run their teams. If they are running them to finish as low as they can that is their prerogative. As long as the GM is active. The problems we have to address have nothing to do with blowing the season, but rather how they do it.
You can dress all the bums you want. What I want to see addressed is as follows: 1. Dressing hurt players 2. Dressing inactive players 3. Not having enough players on your roster 4. GM inactivity 5. Punishments for breaking rules 6. Raising the integrity percentage from 80%
These are all minor things. Nobody should worry about a major overhaul of the rules.

As long as we start this progess of rule changes so that the New teams coming in get a fair shake at improving thier teams because they will have bad teams from the start. Dont you agreee they need a fair chance at getting the top draft picks?
